Raise the Age
On May 24, 2022, an 18-year-old, armed with a semiautomatic rifle, murdered 19 students and two teachers at Robb Elementary in Uvalde - eight days after reaching the legal age to purchase the weapon in Texas.

During the last two Texas legislative session, families of the victims fought tirelessly in support of the bills that that would have raised the age to purchase to 21 years of age.
In 2023, Six Democrats and two Republicans on the House Select Committee on Community Safety voted to advance the bill but it was never brought to a vote. This last session, the bill wasn't even granted a committee hearing.

The families will continue to fight in Texas and at the federal level to raise the age and save lives.
